Some info about the game
Hello, and thanks for your interest in Follow The Banner :)
This game is a personal project, a hobby, made with the support of family and friends that made it possible (des bisous les cocos !).
How it started
I'm a Web developer and a few years back I wanted to get better at Javascript. I looked for a small project to learn and improve and as I like video games, I started a small browser wargame because .. why not ?
So I began with data management, Canva drawing, interactions, Ajax client/server connection and so on. and I ended up creating the draft of a game.
I have absolutely no artistic skills, so I was thrilled to discover a lot of online open-source ressources (go check opengameart.org they're great !). That's how I found stuff that made my (wannabe) game start to look a little better. Step by step, the game got playable and I got friends test it ... and it sucked ¯\_(-_-)_/¯.
What then ?
I learnt websockets for live client/server connection which helped with real time management.
I tried to learn from feedbacks and improve the game.
I kept working on the idea, the interface, the mechanics.
Testing went on and in the end ... it sucked less ! :D
What now ?
Now I'd like to see if the game still works with lots of players. As I don't have hundreds of friends (T_T), I made this website to play with more people !
So there I am, feel free to test the game and let me know what you think (even if you think it sucks) and what can be improved.
I'd love to keep the game totally free (and ad free) if I can.
And there is a lot of place for improvement for the game: graphics, animations, interface, server capacity, lore, units, grounds, gear ... add siege weapons, create a world with alliances and treasons ... and much more !
If you can afford it and want to help the game grow or just share some love, feel free to support me, that means the world to me :)
You can also help by testing, sending feedbacks, sharing ideas ... feel free to get in touch !
Thanks :)
